We have tons of family amenities at the resort, including a 9-hole miniature golf course, a kid’s playground, tennis courts, a half basketball court, and three refreshing pools.
Please remember that a parent or guardian must accompany children under 12 years old for all activities.
We are located just 6 miles from Grantley Adams International Airport.
Divi Southwinds does not offer an all-inclusive option.
Temperatures on Barbados remain constant year-round, averaging about 86°F (30°C) each day, with water temperatures around 78°F (25°C) closer to the coast. Trade winds provide cooling breezes on the island, and there is occasional rainfall in the late summer and early fall.
Dover Beach is a wide stretch of white sand beach, located across a small street from the main resort building. Our ocean view rooms are close to the beach and our beachfront pool. Pureocean Restaurant is located on the beach.
Beach and pool chairs and cabanas are complimentary for all guests and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Any chairs left unattended for more than two hours will be reassigned to other guests. Please do not place articles on the beach chairs before 7 a.m. There is natural shade provided by the trees along the beach.
Beach chairs are spaced out to provide the recommended social distancing.
There is no lifeguard on duty, therefore swimming is at your own risk. Please be especially attentive to the safety of children while on the beach. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and infants and toddlers who are still in diapers MUST wear a “swim diaper” or plastic pants with elastic waist and legs.
Please do not bring glass containers to the beach area. Proper beach attire are required at all times. Play it safe and always wear reef-safe sunscreen! We also ask that you extinguish cigarettes in the receptacles provided. Please read and comply with all rules posted signs.
For your own health and safety, we recommend you do not purchase items from beach vendors who are not employed by the resort. All purchases from beach vendors who are not affiliated with the resort are at your own risk.
You will be given one beach towel for each person in your party, which can be picked up at the front desk or activities desk. Between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, you can exchange your towels at the activities desk. Dirty towels may be replaced for the same number of clean towels. We kindly ask that you consider the environment and change your towels only once per day.
Our Activities Coordinator will be happy to assist you with renting the perfect vehicle to drive while on the island. Vehicles are driven on the left side of the road and most vehicles are right-hand drive. International traffic signs are used.

Starting June 1, 2024, Divi Southwinds Beach Resort is going cashless. Guests who do not have access to the use of a credit card can purchase Divi Cash from the Front Desk.
Our resort’s official check-in time is 4:00 p.m., but we always try to have your room ready for you as soon as possible. Please understand that Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days for arrivals and departures, and your room may not be ready until the official check-in time.
For your safety, we have added hand sanitizer stations at our lobby entrances and exits, and social distancing must be followed at all times.
Our bellman staff will follow special safety procedures when handling luggage and assisting guests to their units. Luggage will be left at the front door, and bellman will not enter the unit.
CHECKOUT
Our resort’s official checkout time is 10:00 a.m. As a consideration to arriving guests, please plan to vacate your room at this time so we can have it fresh and clean for the next guest. A late checkout fee of $100 for 2 hours (up to 12:00 p.m.) will be charged to your account for late departures.
Your bill will be delivered to your room the night prior to your checkout date. To avoid long lines at checkout, please call the Front Desk prior to leaving your room, and we will process your credit card on file for any room or incidental charges.
If you are not leaving the resort immediately, and you have vacated your room, your luggage can be checked with the bell staff and stored safely until your departure.

The official currency of Barbados is the Barbados Dollar (BBD). However, the US Dollar and Pound Sterling are widely accepted on the island. These currencies (in bills) as well as the Euro, Canadian Dollar, and Eastern Caribbean Dollars can always be exchanged at the Front Desk. You will find almost all prices are listed in BBD and US dollars. Please note that if you pay in a foreign currency, change will be given to you in BBD Dollars and coins.
Barbados has an extensive network of ATMs that accept most major credit cards. Please ask the Front Desk for the nearest ATM.

Donations we receive go to Lifelong Skills Training a family-oriented Learning Centre which supports approximately 50 young adults with special needs from ages 16 through 22. The participants and their families are assisted in entering adulthood through a multi-faceted approach. LSTI provides them with a continuing free education in skills training, life skills and self-help skills to ensure that they live full and productive lives. LSTI offers these same services to special parents who are unable to work, but want to continue their growth as well, by encouraging them to learn and volunteer at the Centre.

The resort dress code is totally informal. However, please do not wear wet swimsuits in the restaurant or lobby. Evening wear is typically casual. Nudity is strictly prohibited.
There is no need to purchase bottled water in Barbados. The island's tap water is pure and meets the highest standards set by the World Health Organization.
Vehicles are driven on the left side of the road and the vast majority of vehicles are right- hand drive. International traffic signs are used. While foreign and international driver’s licenses are valid, you will need to purchase a Barbados permit, which costs BBD $10 for a period of two months or less, or BBD $100 if you intend to stay on the island for a period longer than two months. These permits are available from car rental companies, or from the Barbados Licensing Authority between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Taxis are widely available on the island. At Divi Southwinds, should you need a taxi, please call the Front Desk and they can arrange a reliable car or van. It is always advisable to enquire about the fare to your destination from the driver prior to starting your trip. We can also arrange an electric vehicle for you.
Barbados offers duty-free shopping island-wide.

The electrical current is DC 110 volts, 50 cycle – USA voltage. Transformers and adapters are available at the Front Desk.
Most restaurants will not include a service change unless you are a large party. Standard tipping for good service in restaurants is 10%-15%. It is also customary to tip taxi drivers 10%- 15%. If you have any questions, please visit our activities desk.

Our Fitness Center offers the latest exercise equipment, including a computerized bicycle and other cardiovascular and aerobic training equipment. The hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the fitness center is accessible with your room key.
Children between the ages of 8 and 15 should be under strict, direct adult supervision when exercising. Children under 8 years of age are not allowed in the fitness center.
There is a maximum limit of four (4) people allowed in the gym at a time, therefore you are required to book your workout at the activities desk 24 hours in advance, and only for a maximum of one (1) hour per person, per day.
All guest are required to follow social distancing when using the fitness center and sanitize equipment before and after use.

English is the official language of Barbados, but many locals also speak the local Bajan dialect. During the fall and winter, 12 p.m. on the east coast of the United States is 1 p.m. on the island. During U.S. Daylight Savings Time, it’s the same on the eastern seaboard as it is on the island.
Self-operated laundry facilities can be found on the third floor of the main building. Coins for operation may be purchased at the Front Desk.
If you require dry cleaning and or laundry service, please call housekeeping at ext. 7407 before 9 a.m. Laundry service is done by an outside provider and as such, the hotel is not responsible for the loss or damage of any articles. Laundry service is available Monday-Friday and closed on weekends and bank holidays.
Section 7:1 of the Health Services (Prohibition of Tobacco Smoking in Public Places) Regulations 2010 states: Any person who smokes in any public place where a (no-smoking permitted) sign is displayed, is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of BBD $500 or to imprisonment for a term of 12 months or to both such fine and imprisonment. This regulation is strictly enforced throughout Barbados.
Please note that all rooms at our resort are non-smoking. Smoking is strictly limited to designated areas on the resort premises, as well as on your own patio or balcony.
To ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, we kindly request that you use ashtrays or designated receptacles when smoking and properly dispose of cigarette butts. Please be mindful of the island's windy conditions and show consideration to non-smokers who may be nearby.
Please be aware that a sanitation fee of BBD $300 will be applied to your account if smoking occurs inside your suite. Thank you for your cooperation.
Parking is free of charge at the resort. Although our parking lot is well lit and regularly patrolled, we recommend that you lock your car doors and windows, and do not leave valuables or your room key in your vehicle. We assume no liability for theft/or damage to your vehicle.

Located within the resort is our shopping promenade where guest can shop for stunning clothing at Grudge Boutique, and sundry items at the convenient Mini-Mart. Barbados offers duty-free shopping island-wide, and the two main shopping streets in Bridgetown are Swan Street and Broad Street. Most stores are open Monday-Saturday.
